Start with your everyday needs
A home visit after surgery needs to account for the surgeon’s instructions and the stage of recovery. The appropriate timing and type of rehabilitation depend on the procedure and the person.
Questions for the first conversation
What instructions did the surgical team provide? Are there movement or weight-bearing restrictions? When is the next follow-up?
What an assessment can clarify
A physiotherapist may discuss your history, relevant activities and goals, then explain an assessment and ask for your consent. Any proposed plan should come with an explanation of its purpose, limitations and review process.
Before arranging a home visit
Confirm the clinician’s identity and qualifications, the fee and what the visit includes. Explain any access requirements. Bring relevant records and existing clinical instructions.
Read about your first home visit or use the visit planner.
