Start with your everyday needs
Home routines and the support available from family can help a clinician understand mobility concerns. Age alone does not determine a treatment plan. A caregiver can join the conversation with the person’s agreement.
Questions for the first conversation
What parts of the home routine are difficult? Is a caregiver available? Are there concerns about balance or previous falls?
What an assessment can clarify
A physiotherapist may discuss your history, relevant activities and goals, then explain an assessment and ask for your consent. Any proposed plan should come with an explanation of its purpose, limitations and review process.
Before arranging a home visit
Confirm the clinician’s identity and qualifications, the fee and what the visit includes. Explain any access requirements. Bring relevant records and existing clinical instructions.
Read about your first home visit or use the visit planner.
