Back and neck physiotherapy at home

Discussing movement, daily routines and the questions to bring to an assessment.

Start with your everyday needs

A desk-based routine, travel or household tasks may be part of the conversation when someone seeks advice about back or neck symptoms. A qualified clinician decides whether physiotherapy is appropriate.

Questions for the first conversation

Which activities are difficult? What has changed recently? What would make everyday movement easier?

What an assessment can clarify

A physiotherapist may discuss your history, relevant activities and goals, then explain an assessment and ask for your consent. Any proposed plan should come with an explanation of its purpose, limitations and review process.

Before arranging a home visit

Confirm the clinician’s identity and qualifications, the fee and what the visit includes. Explain any access requirements. Bring relevant records and existing clinical instructions.
