Knee mobility and home physiotherapy

Planning a conversation about walking, stairs and everyday movement.

Start with your everyday needs

Knee concerns can affect the activities someone values, including walking and using stairs. An assessment considers the individual rather than assuming that every knee problem needs the same exercises.

Questions for the first conversation

What happens when walking or climbing stairs? Are there relevant medical instructions? Which activity matters most to you?

What an assessment can clarify

A physiotherapist may discuss your history, relevant activities and goals, then explain an assessment and ask for your consent. Any proposed plan should come with an explanation of its purpose, limitations and review process.

Before arranging a home visit

Confirm the clinician’s identity and qualifications, the fee and what the visit includes. Explain any access requirements. Bring relevant records and existing clinical instructions.

Read about your first home visit or use the visit planner.
